John, the Baptist, proclaimed to the people of Israel, saying “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

When he said this,  this does not mean actually that we have to dealing with our own sins and sinful life. What this meant was that we must turn to God from the way of life being without God and being ourselves as our life’s owner to acknowledge of God is owner of our life and acceptance of being united with God again. This is to  change of the relationship with God if we were apart from God into the close relationship with God.

When he said this, he was talking about how God has done his work to save mankinds from the separation with him. In that sense, his proclamation is revealing how it is wonderful and grandeous to see that God has been prepared the way of salvation and now he send his one and only son Jesus to die on the cross.

This is an amazing and wonderful message to hear for all. God made his own highway for men to save  from the eternal destruction derived by the separation from God and make men as his own children to be with Him forever.

Jesus is the descendant fo David and Abraham as God had promised. Matthew explains the geneology of Jesus. However, it is true that Jesus is not a son of David and Abraham by blood. Jesus is the true self of God incarnated through the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit.

When Matthew say Jesus is a son of David and Abraham, he emposises how much God has been fervently  continued his divine promise to be fulfilled.
